This is a study about evaluating cancer screening and diagnosis amongst trans adults of color!

Our purpose is to explore social determinants of healthcare inequities among trans populations of color to guide HIV, gender-affirming care, and cancer prevention intervention efforts.

We would like to understand how to best integrate these efforts to meet the needs of trans adults, and to address personal, social, environmental, structural, and economic factors that impact the use of these services to improve delivery.

  • We will not collect identifiable information, aside from an email address. All interviews will be de-identified to maintain confidentiality, and participants are assigned a record ID (e.g. #1234). Interview transcripts are stored in a password-protected Dropbox folder, and only members of the study team have access to the password. In publications, all responses will be grouped with other participants.

  • The responses will help inform health services and policy programming specific to trans Washingtonians. Summaries of findings will be included in future dissemination materials.

  • We first ask you to fill out a screener survey to verify your eligibility! Afterwards, you’ll participate in a 1-1.5 hour interview.

  • We will ask questions regarding demographics, sexual health, experiences relating to barriers to health care, gender-affirming care, social support, and general health.

  • Responses contribute to our knowledge of trans health in Washington state. This study is being used as a starting point to develop future research and interventions, tailored to the needs of our communities. Participants are awarded $50 for survey and interview completion as a token of appreciation.
